The Final Word
Several people have gold us, “Gee, this doesn’t look like a typical law firm website.” That’s because it isn’t, and that’s because The Aubert Law Firm is not a typical law firm. We are contacted frequently by web designers who want to cut and paste the same clichés and stock images - you know, lawyers climbing the courthouse steps with serious expressions on their faces, or pretending to argue fake cases to fake juries in front of fake judges in fake courtrooms, or working collaboratively around a conference table with law books open and legal pads spread out - into a generic law firm website template and charge us thousands of dollars. No thanks - that’s not us.
We don’t advertise on television, we don’t have billboards, and we don’t hustle business. That’s because sophisticated clients typically don’t use law firm websites to decide who to hire when they need help or advice. Rather, they use law firm websites to get contact and other general information about the firm and the lawyers. And besides, most of our business comes from satisfied and loyal long term clients and their referrals.
So, with our website, we’ve decided to just be who we are: good lawyers who are honest, respectful, trustworthy, fair, ethical, efficient, and practical, who have practiced together for many years, who care about our clients and each other, and who strive daily to get the best results for our clients. Most of our clients have been with us for decades, so it seems that, in the end, that’s all that really matters.
A comment about legal fees is probably appropriate. It should be fairly obvious to most visitors of this website that all lawyers are not the same. It’s the same as realizing that all doctors, accountants, mechanics, chefs, barbers, and pretty much everyone else, are not all the same, or that Wal-Mart is not Neiman Marcus. If you need heart surgery, you probably wouldn’t choose your cardiologist based on what he charged, and if you’re looking for socks, you probably wouldn’t shop at Neiman Marcus.
The same is true for lawyers, because lawyers are people, not commodities. Some lawyers are more experienced or better than others, and thus some lawyers cost more than others. We are not the cheapest lawyers in town. So, if you have an important legal problem and are looking for lawyers to do it on a shoestring budget, we’re probably not the best choice for you. On the other hand, if you’re looking for honest lawyers to take your problem seriously, handle it pragmatically, deal with you respectfully, and do things right, we should talk.
Our view on legal fees is best summed up by John Glenn, who said, “As I hurtled through space, one thought kept crossing my mind - every part of this rocket was supplied by the lowest bidder.” As you navigate your important legal problems, I hope you do not say, “I want every part of my legal journey provided by the lowest bidder.”
